German Döner Kebab Franchise Expands to California Döner Haus, a New York-based fast-casual döner kebab concept, opened its first Los Angeles location on August 10 at Juanita Tate Marketplace in South Los Angeles. The 5857 S Central Ave. location marks the brand's first West Coast expansion and introduces a significant operational shift: a dedicated dining room alongside its traditional grab-and-go service model.

Menu and Format The menu features Döner Sandwiches, Döner Wraps, and Döner Boxes made fresh in an open kitchen.

All items are prepared with filler-free, 100% halal meat. The addition of seating differentiates this location from Döner Haus' New York storefronts, which operate as counter-service only. The restaurant operates Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m.

Ownership and Expansion Plans The Los Angeles location is owned and operated by Sebastian Martinez, a local entrepreneur whose background spans restaurant franchising and commercial real estate. Martinez opened his first restaurant while in college and spent eight years evaluating growth opportunities and identifying high-potential markets. Döner Haus, founded in New York City in 2023, has secured more than 50 franchise commitments nationwide. The brand describes itself as a tech-forward franchise model with industry-low royalty fees designed to support franchisee profitability.

Why It Matters

The Los Angeles opening signals accelerated national expansion for the döner kebab category in the U.S. market, a segment dominated by regional and international operators. As Döner Haus moves beyond its New York base into major metropolitan markets, the addition of dine-in capability suggests the brand is testing new operational models to compete in varied real estate environments.
