For the 19th consecutive year, Domino's Pizza and the National Fire Protection Association are partnering to turn a routine pizza delivery into a home fire safety check during Fire Prevention Week, October 4–10.

Customers who order from participating franchise-owned and corporate Domino's stores across the U.S. may find a fire engine pulling up alongside their delivery driver. If the smoke alarms in the home are working, the pizza is on the house. If they are not, on-site firefighters will replace the batteries or install fully functioning alarms — a community-service angle that has made the program a durable brand-and-safety asset for the chain.

A New Safety Focus

This year's campaign theme — "Charge into Fire Safety™: Safe Charging Is a Superpower" — adds a timely dimension. Participating stores will distribute flyers at delivery addressing lithium-ion battery fire risks, reflecting growing concern across the fire-safety community about the proliferation of smartphones, laptops, and other high-capacity battery-powered devices in the home.

"Fire continues to present real risks to the public, particularly at home, where the majority of U.S. home fire deaths happen," said Lorraine Carli, NFPA's vice president of outreach and advocacy. "As newer technologies like smartphones, laptops, and other devices powered by lithium-ion batteries are used more widely in our homes, the potential risks they present reinforce the critical importance of working smoke alarms, which give people the time needed to escape safely."

Why It Matters for Operators

For the restaurant industry, the Domino's–NFPA partnership is a well-worn template for how large franchise systems can activate community goodwill without heavy incremental cost. The program requires operational coordination between franchisees and local fire departments, but the brand payoff — documented over nearly two decades — is significant. Maureen Pittenger, Domino's executive vice president and chief human resources officer, noted that the stores have "found a unique way to help bring [fire safety] home" for 19 years running.

The initiative also underscores the growing role that QSR delivery operations play beyond pure convenience, embedding the brand into neighborhood safety infrastructure in ways that traditional advertising cannot replicate. With more than 22,500 stores across over 90 markets globally and a domestic digital ordering share exceeding 85% of U.S. retail sales in 2025, Domino's delivery footprint gives the campaign national reach through a hyper-local execution model driven by its independent franchise owner network.

For multi-unit operators tracking community-engagement strategies in foodservice, the longevity of this partnership — now spanning nearly two decades — offers evidence that sustained cause-marketing programs tied to a consistent safety message can outlast short-term promotional cycles and build genuine goodwill with regulators and local governments alike.
