Connecticut Pizza Chain Expands Hartford County Footprint Colony Grill, the Connecticut-based pizza chain known for its thin-crust bar pies and signature hot oil topping, announced two new locations in Newington and South Windsor scheduled to open in 2027. The Newington location at 3260 Berlin Turnpike will seat more than 175 guests with a large patio and the brand's first fully private dining room. The dedicated space will host team dinners, birthday celebrations, and group events. The restaurant will feature a full bar with twelve tap lines and multiple TVs. "We're excited to have a space in Newington that gives us even more opportunities to welcome guests in and make them feel at home," said Ken Martin, COO and co-owner of Colony Grill. "The private dining room gives us a dedicated space to host milestone celebrations, corporate outings, and group dinners while delivering the same great pizza and hospitality that define the Colony Grill experience." The South Windsor location at 255 Gateway Blvd will anchor a portion of Buckland Gateway, a new mixed-use development. The restaurant will seat approximately 150 guests with a patio, a 12-tap bar, and multiple TVs. "These two towns represent exactly what Colony Grill is about," said Paul Coniglio, CEO and co-owner of Colony Grill. "We've grown this concept around great pizza bringing people together—with teammates coming in after practice, families sharing a Bar Pie on a Tuesday night, or friends catching the game together. Newington and South Windsor have that same strong sense of local pride, and we're excited not just to open restaurants there, but to become part of the fabric of both towns through the way we serve our guests, support local organizations, and show up for the community."
Why It Matters
The expansion marks Colony Grill's continued investment in growing beyond its traditional Fairfield County base. Founded in 1935 in Stamford, the regional chain currently operates locations across Connecticut, New York, Virginia, and Florida. The addition of two full-service restaurants with private dining and expanded bar programs signals the brand's strategy to position itself beyond casual neighborhood pizza spots into more formal event and entertainment venues.
