Chipotle Mexican Grill is bringing back its discontinued margarita through a five-city pop-up series, the "Summon the Spirits Tour," offering the drink at $6 a glass every weekend in October — a direct response to years of fan demand on social media.
The tour hits one Chipotle location per weekend, running Fridays and Saturdays from 3 to 9 p.m. local time, with stops in Denver (Oct. 2–3), New York (Oct. 9–10), Dallas (Oct. 16–17), Los Angeles (Oct. 23–24), and New Orleans (Oct. 30–31). Each pop-up transforms a section of the selected restaurant into a dedicated margarita bar with Halloween-themed décor, interactive moments, and prize giveaways.
The Drink Itself
The Chipotle Margarita is made with five ingredients: premium tequila, triple sec, citrus juice, agave nectar, and a fresh lime wedge — no artificial flavors or premade mixes. The Dallas stop adds a frozen variant, a nod to the city's claim as the birthplace of the world's first frozen margarita machine. The $6 price point is available to guests 21 and older.
"Fans never stopped talking about our margaritas after they left the menu, so Halloween felt like the perfect time to revive a Chipotle classic," said Stephanie Perdue, Senior Vice President of Brand Marketing at Chipotle.
Operator Takeaways
For restaurant operators watching beverage program trends, Chipotle's move illustrates how nostalgia-driven limited-time offers can generate earned media and foot traffic without a permanent menu commitment. The pop-up format — one location per market, for two nights only — creates scarcity that amplifies social buzz while keeping operational complexity contained. It also signals that even large QSR chains are revisiting alcohol as a traffic and check-size lever, a strategy worth noting across the broader casual and fast-casual dining landscape.
The tour doubles as a runway to Boorito, Chipotle's annual Halloween promotion. The brand confirmed that Boorito returns October 31 with an in-restaurant entrée offer, with full details to be released later in the month. With over 4,200 locations systemwide as of mid-2026, the limited geographic footprint of the margarita tour keeps demand concentrated and manageable — while the social media visibility reaches a far wider audience.
