Capitano, the coastal Italian restaurant at The Wharf in Washington, DC, is launching weekend brunch service beginning Saturday, July 11. The new daypart runs Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The brunch menu blends traditional breakfast dishes with Italian flavors and the restaurant's signature cooking style. Offerings include Lemon Ricotta Pancakes topped with blueberries, Brioche French Toast with cookie crumbles and fresh fruit, and Tuscan Shrimp and Grits made with roasted tomatoes, aged parmesan and chicken sausage. The menu also features Egg Benedict and Smashed Avocado Toast alongside Italian-leaning entrées such as Beef Bolognese, Shrimp Alfredo and Chicken Cavatappi.

Pizzas and Salads Signature pizzas available during brunch include the Spicy Diavolo, Classic Margherita, and Crispy Pepperoni topped with ricotta, caramelized onions and basil. Fresh salads—Caesar, Fennel-Arugula and Tomato Mozz—round out the offering. Capitano, located at 975 7th St SW, is operated under Concord Hospitality's Opus Collection division. The restaurant specializes in seasonal, ingredient-driven dishes with a focus on fresh seafood and housemade pastas, paired with a Southern Italian wine list and coastal-inspired cocktails.

Why It Matters

Weekend brunch service expansion represents a strategic daypart capture for fine-casual coastal concepts in mixed-use waterfront developments, allowing operators to diversify revenue streams and extend customer dwell time across leisure occasions.
