Fresh Alliance is now the single operating brand for all of Buyers Edge Platform's fresh produce activity, after the Waltham, Mass.-based digital procurement network folded Produce Alliance and Fresh Concepts into its existing Fresh Alliance procurement operation. The consolidation, announced Aug. 25, will roll out over six months and positions the combined entity as a scaled, technology-forward supplier of fresh produce management, procurement, and supply chain services for foodservice operators nationwide.

Leadership Transition

Christopher Rheault, who previously led each of the three converging brands, takes the title of President of Fresh Alliance. He succeeds David Liesenfelt, who built and ran Buyers Edge Platform's Fresh Division and will retire in February 2027 after more than four decades in the industry. Rheault's cross-brand experience is central to the consolidation rationale: having overseen all three organizations, he is positioned to unify their supplier relationships and customer-facing teams without disruption during the transition period.

Scale and Technology

The merged organization will field more than 200 fresh-focused professionals and signals a clear push toward tech-enabled procurement. Buyers Edge Platform is committing to continued investment in AI-powered tools, an expanded international footprint, and additional resources aimed at helping customers optimize fresh produce programs and supply chains. For operators already working with any of the three legacy brands, the company emphasized that existing relationships and contacts remain intact — now supported by a broader resource pool.

"Fresh Alliance is more than a name change; it is the next chapter in our commitment to leading the fresh supply chain across the globe," said Christopher Rheault, President of Fresh Alliance. "Our customers will continue working with the people they know and trust, now backed by even greater resources, technology and expertise."

The move reflects a broader trend in foodservice procurement toward consolidation and platform-based services, as operators face persistent fresh produce sourcing and cost pressures. Grouping produce management, procurement intelligence, and supply chain management under a single brand allows Fresh Alliance to present a unified value proposition to distributors, grower-shippers, and multi-unit operators — segments where fragmented vendor relationships have historically complicated program management. Food & Beverage Magazine has tracked similar convergence patterns across foodservice procurement networks as operators seek fewer, deeper partnerships with suppliers capable of delivering both data and distribution scale.
