Season of Italian American Traditions Returns to Arthur Avenue The Belmont Business Improvement District in Bronx Little Italy is rolling out a slate of community events from September through December 2026, anchored by the neighborhood's signature Ferragosto Festival and holiday celebrations. "For over a century, Bronx Little Italy has stayed true to its authenticity and strong ethnic heritage, welcoming thousands of visitors each year that keep us on the 'map' as a thriving immigrant enclave in NYC," said Peter Madonia, Chairman of the Belmont Business Improvement District. "We are proud to carry on this legacy today through decades-old traditions like our annual Ferragosto Festival and Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony."

Ferragosto Festival and Early Fall Programming The annual Ferragosto Festival returns September 13 from noon to 6 p.m. on Arthur Avenue between East 187th Street and Crescent Avenue. The 25-year-old event will feature local restaurants including Calabria Pork Store, Emilia's Restaurant, Artuso Pastry Shop (marking 80 years in business), and Teitel Brothers, alongside live music and entertainment. Free shuttle service will run from Fordham University parking ($10) from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Pre-festival activities begin earlier in the month. On September 9, retired United Airlines flight attendant Paul "Paulie" Veneto will pass through Bronx Little Italy at 10:30 a.m. as part of his final "Paulie's Final Push" journey—a 25-year commemoration honoring September 11 victims through a cross-country push of an airline beverage cart and journey totaling over 1,000 miles. A brief ceremony will take place at East 186th Street and Arthur Avenue. On September 10, The Belmont Library will host a Tombola game day at 3 p.m.

Fall Entertainment and Heritage Celebrations The Belmont 4, an a cappella doo-wop group, will perform pop-up performances on select Fridays and Saturdays (September 19, 25 & 26 and October 3, 17, 23 & 24) from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. throughout the neighborhood. Italian American Heritage Month celebrations on October 12 will feature the band Pane e Cioccolato performing from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at East 186th Street and Arthur Avenue.

Holiday Programming and Religious Services Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church will host a slate of holiday services and activities beginning in late November. Thanksgiving Mass is scheduled for November 26 at 10 a.m., while a live nativity scene will be on display December 22 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and December 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring real people and farm animals. Christmas Eve carols will begin at 11 p.m. on December 24, with Christmas Day masses in multiple languages on December 25.

Tree Lighting and Final Holiday Events The Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place December 5 from 4 to 6 p.m. in Ciccarone Park at East 188th Street and Arthur Avenue, featuring Santa and his elf, holiday carols, Italian cookies, and hot chocolate from local businesses. The Belmont BID will partner with The Children's Cancer Society of America for a toy giveaway on a first-come, first-serve basis. On select December dates, The Jolly Holidays will serenade shoppers with classic holiday carols, with additional Santa appearances scheduled throughout the neighborhood.

Retail and Dining Options The neighborhood continues to operate as a destination for Italian specialty shops, butchers, bakeries, and restaurants. Bronx Little Italy branded pasta sauce and products are available nationally and through Amazon, with proceeds supporting the Belmont BID's preservation efforts. Arthur Avenue also features Albanian, Mexican, and other cuisines alongside traditional Italian fare.
