Two chef-driven limited-time dishes are now driving charitable dollars at Bonefish Grill locations nationwide, as the polished-casual seafood chain launches a cause-marketing partnership with the Robert Irvine Foundation to benefit service members, veterans, first responders, and their families.
For every Wood-Grilled Sage Ribeye or Thai Coastal Grouper sold through December 31, $1 is donated to the foundation, which focuses on food access, wellness, education, and community programming for those who serve. Guests can also round up their check total to add a direct donation through December 1.
The Dishes
Both plates were developed exclusively for Bonefish Grill by celebrity chef and foundation founder Robert Irvine. The Wood-Grilled Sage Ribeye features a 13-ounce cut finished with a smoked sage demi-glace, topped with crispy onions and fried sage, and served with the chain's signature garlic whipped potatoes and a seasonal vegetable. The Thai Coastal Grouper pairs wood-grilled grouper with a Thai green curry sauce, pineapple salsa, pickled Peruvian drop peppers, and jasmine rice — a lighter, globally influenced option designed to broaden appeal across Bonefish's guest base.
For operators watching the casual-dining segment, the approach reflects a broader shift toward purpose-driven menu strategy: anchoring limited-time offers to a philanthropic mechanic can lift check averages while reinforcing brand identity, particularly in a competitive polished-casual environment where differentiation on menu alone is increasingly difficult.
Veterans Day Offer
Bonefish Grill is layering in a Veterans Day activation on November 11, offering veterans, active-duty and retired military members, first responders, and their families a complimentary order of Bang Bang Shrimp and a nonalcoholic beverage at any location. The gesture extends the chain's stated tradition of honoring service communities and provides a traffic-driving occasion during a shoulder period between peak fall and the holiday dining rush.
"Service members, veterans and first responders dedicate their lives to serving others, and we're honored to support them through this partnership," said John Bettin, President of Bonefish Grill. "Giving back to this community is deeply meaningful to all of us at Bonefish Grill."
Robert Irvine, Founder of the Robert Irvine Foundation, framed the collaboration around food's broader social function: "Food has always been about more than what's on the plate. It brings people together, and in this case, it gives people a simple way to give back to the men and women who serve our country and our communities."
Chef partnerships and cause-marketing LTOs have become standard tools in the casual and polished-casual dining playbook, helping chains generate earned media while giving guests a transactional reason to participate in philanthropy. For Bonefish Grill — a brand known for its seafood focus and bar program — attaching a celebrity chef's name to a land-and-sea menu expansion also signals a willingness to stretch the brand's culinary range heading into the holiday season.
