The Boiling Crab is launching its third consecutive Childhood Cancer Awareness Month fundraiser this year, renewing a partnership with the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation (NPCF) from September 14 through October 11. The chain will direct a portion of proceeds from select menu items—including boiled shrimp and crawfish—toward NPCF's research programs. Last year's campaign raised more than $160,000. Guests participate by dining in or ordering takeout, requiring no additional action beyond their meal.

Campaign Details The in-restaurant experience includes coloring placemats, stickers, and bibs designed by RIF LA, plus direct links to NPCF's donation page. Campaign T-shirts are available for purchase. NPCF allocates approximately 89 cents of every dollar directly toward clinical research trials and treatment.

The Need Cancer remains the leading cause of death by disease among U.S. children, with an estimated 43 kids diagnosed daily in 2026, according to NPCF. Survival rates have improved to 85% today, up from about 58% in the mid-1970s, driven largely by research funding. "The Boiling Crab has been in this fight with us for three years now, and that kind of sustained commitment is rare," said David Frazer, CEO of the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation. "It's exactly the kind of long-term partnership that moves pediatric cancer research forward. We're proud of what we've built together, and we're far from done." Dada Ngo, co-founder of The Boiling Crab, said the cause aligns with the chain's family-focused identity. "The Boiling Crab has always been a family establishment, so this cause is dear and true to our hearts. Watching our guests rally behind it last year reminded us why we do what we do," Ngo said.

Why It Matters

Multi-year cause marketing campaigns have become less common in foodservice.

The Boiling Crab's three-year commitment demonstrates sustained operator engagement with a nonprofit partner—a model that builds awareness and donor fatigue resistance compared to one-off annual efforts.
