Pittsburgh-based Unifying Spirits has closed a Wefunder equity crowdfunding campaign at $2.238 million, drawing commitments from 462 investors to accelerate the retail and on-premise rollout of Boba POPS®, the brand's patented alcohol-filled popping boba. The close pushes the company's total equity financing to roughly $8 million, with approximately half of that capital coming from experienced beverage industry backers.
The Numbers
Boba POPS posted $2.8 million in revenue in 2025, a 3.6x year-over-year increase, and the product now sits in more than 10,000 points of distribution across 75 national retail chains. Patents protecting the manufacturing process run through 2035, giving Unifying Spirits a meaningful window of exclusivity in what it describes as an entirely new category within beverage alcohol. "The enthusiasm we've seen from both consumers and investors reinforces that people are looking for new experiences in beverage alcohol," said Ray Rozycki, CEO of Unifying Spirits.
Production & On-Premise Push
The capital will fund new proprietary equipment at the company's Pittsburgh facility, with a target of roughly five times current manufacturing capacity. Greater domestic output is designed to tighten supply chain control ahead of continued national retail expansion. Critically for the hospitality sector, Unifying Spirits is actively deepening partnerships with bars, restaurants, and entertainment venues — a channel where the product's interactive, experiential format offers bartenders and beverage directors a high-visibility cocktail upgrade. The company is also developing a ready-to-drink line, extending the brand beyond the cocktail-enhancement format into a standalone shelf set.
Why Operators Should Watch
Boba POPS occupies a rare position in the beverage alcohol landscape: it functions as a cocktail ingredient, a tableside experience, and a menu differentiator simultaneously. The pearls — available in eight flavors including Lychee, Espresso, Margarita Style, and Piña Colada Style — can be added to champagne, seltzers, or mixed drinks, making them compatible with nearly any beverage program a restaurant or hotel bar already runs. That versatility, combined with the brand's visual appeal and bubble tea cultural cachet, positions Boba POPS as a low-barrier experiential add-on for operators trying to drive check averages and social-media shareability without overhauling their back bar. With a fivefold production expansion underway, supply constraints that may have limited on-premise availability should ease as distribution broadens into 2026 and beyond.
