Private workspace pod network Alcove has doubled its national footprint from 16 to 33 pods with three simultaneous openings: its first Manhattan location inside M Social Hotel New York Downtown, a 14-pod Brooklyn hub in Prospect Heights, and a third Bay Area outpost at Hyatt Regency Sonoma Wine Country. The expansion brings Alcove to eight locations across Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bay Area, and Seattle — and, the company says, positions it within reach of frequent-traveling executives in every market it serves.

The Hotel Revenue Play

For hotel operators, the pitch is straightforward: Alcove installs, operates, and markets the pods, while the property earns a revenue share with no capital outlay and no added staffing. More than half of guests at hotel-partner locations arrive from outside the property, generating net-new foot traffic for food, beverage, and other ancillary spend. Current hotel partners include Hilton, Hyatt, Fairmont, and Highgate. Alex Spektor, Managing Director at M Social Hotel New York Downtown, called the arrangement "a premium, on-demand private workspace for focused work and calls" that "enhances the experience for our guests, welcomes new visitors from the surrounding Financial District community, and creates an additional revenue stream — all without requiring capital investment or added operational support."

The operator angle aligns with a broader shift in hospitality space monetization that has accelerated since the hybrid-work era reshaped how both business travelers and local professionals use hotels. Alcove cites data that more than 40% of remote professionals have taken calls from cars, closets, or bathrooms — a figure that underscores unmet demand for reliable, designed focus environments in mixed-use hospitality settings.

What the Network Offers

Each Alcove pod features sound control, customizable lighting, an external monitor, sit-stand desk, and high-speed Wi-Fi. Designed by the creative teams behind Soho House, Glossier, and SoulCycle, the pods are reservable on demand from $25 per hour with no subscription commitment. Guests average 3.5 hours per session, and more than half return for a follow-on booking — a retention metric that reflects recurring commercial demand rather than one-off novelty use.

The Prospect Heights location introduces a new product: Alcove Summit, a dedicated six-person meeting venue with finishes inspired by cafés in Mexico City and the South of France. Teams can use the Summit space collaboratively while individual members step into adjacent pods for private calls — a configuration that mirrors the flexible meeting infrastructure many full-service hotels have struggled to provide at small-group scale.

Since launching less than two years ago, Alcove has served more than 2,500 guests who have collectively reserved over 15,000 hours. Helen Knight, Founder and CEO, framed the expansion as both a guest-experience and a distribution milestone: "With eight locations from coast to coast, our guests can count on ALCOVE's unparalleled private productive space, whether they're in Manhattan for business or Sonoma for a weekend trip."

Eddie Huang, Director of Front Office at Hyatt Regency Sonoma Wine Country, noted that the pods allow the property to serve local community members as well as in-house guests, extending the hotel's relevance beyond its traditional overnight audience. All three new locations are open and bookable now at reservealcove.com.
